How to Master Eulogy Speeches Writing in 6 Simple Steps

Many students are terrified of public speaking. Oral presentations in general are challenging and tough to master because they demand a certain set of skills that shy and introverted students don’t have. One of the best ways of mastering public presentations is through eulogy writing. Eulogy speeches are not random orations, as nobody can speak freely at a funeral without getting emotional. Properly laid out eulogies (written on paper and structured accordingly) make eulogy speeches less emotional; it is a great opportunity for students to learn how to control their emotions when speaking in front of a crowd. Here are 6 simple steps that will help you master eulogy speeches. 1. Know the Usual Length of a Eulogy Speech Eulogies can last from 4-5 to 15 minutes. This usually depends on the person you’re talking about when speaking. On paper, a 5-minute speech shouldn’t be more than 500 words. Make sure the writing is qualitative, not quantitative. Keep your presentation short and to the point; and try not to beat around the bush. 2. Master the Structure of a Eulogy The main structure of a eulogy is intro, middle part and conclusion. The introduction should feature a welcome message or a quote to help the speaker make the transition to the middle part with a lot more ease. Make sure to include a quick brief about yourself too: let your audience know who you are. Assuming that you have a subject in mind for the eulogy, continue your speech by making quick, specific affirmations; finish off with a conclusion. Offer appreciation and thank your audience for their attention. 3. Have a Subject in Mind Prior to giving a eulogy, you need to settle on a subject. In general, eulogies are speeches people give at funerals. However, in college a eulogy can easily be a presentation on any other subject. Stay away from making unfounded assumptions and stick to proven facts. This way, if someone in the audience has a question you will be able to give them a straight answer without hesitation. 4. Include Additional Elements to Stand out from the Crowd Professors are used to listening to students give eulogies and speeches. In order to stand out from your colleagues and make an impression, you are advised to include elements that could make your presentation memorable. Quotes and paraphrases for example, are a great start. This will make your professor sense that you’re knowledgeable and that you really tried to make your speech different from the rest. 5. Choose the Right Tone Eulogies and public speeches must be appealing for an audience to become interested in what you have to say. In order to grab the attention of your professors and colleagues, you need to use the right tone. Speak naturally and try not to raise your voice or increase the pace. Just breathe if you’re nervous, and look your audience straight in the eye to show them that you’re confident in your subject. 6. Consider the Audience Eulogy speeches are like any other public presentation. There’s a speaker (who’s doing all the talking) and an audience eager to listen. However, if you don’t engage with your listeners, your eulogy won’t seem interesting even though the subject might be pretty good. Look at the people in front of you, use body language to keep them interested, and interact with them to pique their interest. There you have it! Mastering eulogy speeches is not a mission impossible. All you need to make your presentation work is a bit of confidence and a good subject.

Statistical Tools Methods: The main statistical tools that will be used to perform my analysis are the Microsoft Excel data analysis Tool Pak and an online calculator for a t-test. I will run a regression analysis and an ANOVA test. Excel is the best tool to use because the data that has been given is quantitative not qualitative. The data that the teams are given in the case study appears to be units used/sold and manufactured and this is good data to import into Excel. The only variable that is present is the year, quarter, or month that the units were sold/produced in. In this case study the given data would fall in the category of a time series because the sales figures increased over the time (years). Also in reviewing the data there is seasonal variation in the sales figures from 2006 to 2008. This category of data can be analyzed using time series methodologies. The next year’s data or projected data is dependent on the previous year’s data, so time series analysis is appropriate. When looking at the problem that A-CAT is facing we see either overstocking or under stocking transformers. Over stocking causes capital to be tied up in the inventory. Under stocking causes A-CAT to be unable to deliver order quickly. The first reason why early adults should live with their family is that they have an opportunity to save money. Economic circumstances present many challenges for young adults because most usually graduate from high school, they find a place in college and start a job (Crandell, T. L, Crandell, C. H Vander Zanden, 2009). Besides, economic crises have led unemployment for â€Å"75 million† young people between the ages of 15 to 24 years old (Barnes, 2012). Due to the low starting salaries, many young adults struggle to pay their daily expenses (Vander Zanden, 1997). Furthermore, according to Hartley (1993), in Australia, 45% of surveyed people said the main reason for returning home in the first time is financial problems. Secondly, early adults who do not make a residential transition have a closer relationship with family members than those leaving home do. Beside financial support, children will receive love and moral support from their parents (Philip, 1998). Parents, moreover, are willing to provide guidance for their children that help them make better choices and decisions. As a result, the relationship between parents and children is more valuable than young adults and peers (Logan Spitze, 1996). In addition, the siblings are typically the first peer group in both childhood and adulthood. Young adults living at home benefit from sharing every day routines ith their siblings like joining he meal, splitting dress or taking care of one another, especially, when they are ill (Newman, B. M Newman, P. R, 1983, p. 231). Furthermore, when young adults cope with problems to express themselves with their parents, teachers and social peers, the siblings are likely to be appropriated people to confide (Newman, B. M Newman, P. R, 1983). Thirdly, early adults living at home will reduce bad effects on personal development. Young people are li kely to become self-indulgent including the temptation of drugs and alcohol when there is no parental supervision. According to Philip (1998), negative economic and social effects leading to a great number of dangers as â€Å"teen-aged motherhood† are the results of leaving home at very early young age (p. 557). In addition, detaching themselves from their net at young age make early adults hard to succeed in marriage and work (White as cited in Berk, 1998). Nevertheless, young adults presume that the goal of leaving home is to have an independent life, which makes them easily anxious and depressed (Olds Schwartz as cited in Rosenfeld, 2010). Bruch et al. Cheek Busch (as cited in Berk, 1998) said that â€Å"socially anxious people report more loneliness† (p. 461). Therefore, the family is the best address to release stress and decrease social dangers for early adults because â€Å"the parental home serves as a safety net and base of operation for launching adult life† (Berk, 1998, p. 463). The opponents of co-residence with parents say that young adults will get experience when leaving home. However, gaining experience does not depend on who they live with and young adults can get valuable experiences while living with their parents. In fact, peer’s advices are not always as reliable and effective as parents’ in some cases (Newman, B. M Newman, P. R, 1983). Moreover, the necessity of social support from their parents for the maturity of young adults was the conclusion of a study of 175 18 and 19-year-old college students (Philip, 1998). According to Turner and Helms (1989), 83% of the adolescents have â€Å"democratic parents† (p. 288) because they still have the freedom to participate in social activities and do part-time jobs to broaden knowledge when living at home. Additionally, they also can help their parents with household chores, which narrows the generation gap and helps them learn essential skills for an independent life later. In conclusion, due to the current economic crises and dramatic changes in society, especially the increase of social dangers, young adults should live in their parental home to avoid harmful influences on themselves and their family as well. By contrast, young adults who decide to leave home at an early age may face difficulties for a long time because of the lack of advices, financial and emotional support from their parents (Berk, 1998). DECA Essay free essay sample

There I sat, in the dimly lit hallway at the district competition with my purse, a list of performance indicators, and my favorite black pen. My partner was sitting next to me tweeting something on her phone. A woman walked out of the gym in a black cardigan and pencil skirt and called out, â€Å"Anyone for 10:45?† My partner and I got up as fast as we could in our professional attire and heels. I hobbled over and said, â€Å"We were supposed to go an hour ago†¦Ã¢â‚¬  The lady hurried us into the gym, pointed to a table, and told us to start. â€Å"Alright, let’s go!† I said to my partner. We looked at each other and knew we had this. And so my journey to internationals Anaheim, California began. At Districts the event my partner and I participated in was called â€Å"hospitality and tourism.† We received a case study in which we had to come up with an effective way to advertise a 5 star hotel through social media. We placed third. For my first time ever doing a DECA competition I was more than thrilled. Next, was the State Competition. Not only did my partner and I have role-plays but we also had individual projects. I took on writing a ten page business plan of a business of my creation. I created a kayaking outfitter located in Key West, Florida. It was by far, the most strenuous project I have ever had to do. It required late nights and weeks to perfect. When it came time to present my project to the judge I was ready to go. I looked over my performance indicators one more time and took a deep breath. The lady called out the name of my school. † That was me. It was go time. The presentation wasn’t flawless, there was the occasional â€Å"umm† or a spelling error, but I was proud of my performance. Proud that I made it this far. But I wanted more. I wanted that international competition in Anaheim. When it came time for the awards I was fidgeting with my dress, looking around everywhere, crossing and uncrossing my legs. Finally, the words Entrepreneurship Participating flashed across the screen. This was it†¦. After the award ceremony was over I decided to stick around and see if maybe I would get bumped up from 7th place to 5th place. 5th place meant I would be going to internationals. I sat there with the other internationals finalists from my chapter for 10 minutes before I walked back to pack. Some of my best friends were now headed to California without me. 45 minutes later I was shoving myself and my two suitcases out the hotel room door and my chapter leader came up the stairs. He said, â€Å"Molly, would you like to go to California? You got bumped to 5th place!† and my answer was a resounding â€Å"hell yes!† After eight hours of traveling, myself and LAX. I couldn’t believe I was here. The following days included an opening ceremony with 17,000 other high school students from around the world, giving presentations, going to Disney, and getting told I have a funny accent. I did not place for my project and neither did anyone else from our chapter. I was proud of myself though, for making it as far as internationals. But I wanted more. And I said, â€Å"Next year. Next year Atlanta is mine.†
